Abstract
516,988. Electromagnetic switches. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., SPARKES, H. H. J., and CHILDS, P. A. July 15, 1938, No. 21077. [Class 33 (v)] In an electromagnet relay, the armature 6, which is adapted to be attracted in one direction or the other by the momentary energization of a coil 8 or 9 is fixed to a central member 24 which is connected by a C-shaped dead-centre spring 12 to a contact arm 13 movable between adjustable fixed contacts 19, 20. The movement of the contact member may thus be small compared with the movement of the armature, and the contact gap may be of the order of À005 inch for A.C. and À02 inch for D.C. for currents of the order of 10 or 30 amperes. In the form shown the contact member 13 is secured to a spring strip 16 fixed at its upper end and the armature is arranged so as to lie flat against the pole 2 or 3 attracting it.
