Abstract
548,472. Arc-rupturing in switches. CHANCE BROS. & CO., Ltd., and BERTENSHAW, N. W. July 25, 1941, No. 9469. [Class 38 (v)] The blow-out coil i of a circuit-breaker or contactor in which a bridging-contact f is adapted to separate from and engage in succession a pair of fixed contacts a, b, is connected between the bridging-contact f and that one b of the fixed contacts from which f first separates. The support e is movable in a plane at right-angles to the plane of engagement of the contacts, and the successive action is obtained by means of a spring g which rotates f about its pivot d until arrested by stop h, the contact f rolling on a while it is separating from b.
