Abstract
537,069. Switch contacts. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. Sept. 21, 1939 No. 3119/41. Convention date, Oct. 27, 1938. Divided out of 534,979. [Class 38 (v)] The circuit-breaker of Specification 534,979 is provided with a pressure relieving means similar to that of Specification 534,286, and also with an arrangement of fixed contact fingers 51, such that if, when closing, the movable ring contact engages one or more fingers end-on and tries to move them longitudinally, a lateral movement is imparted to them so as to move them clear of the ring. Each finger is guided between parts 95, 99 of a ringlike casting 53 and in an aperture 93 of flange 55 on the casting, so as to be free to move upwardly and in so doing to cause a surface 101 thereon to react camwise on a surface 103 on casting 53, so levering the fingers outwards. The fingers are embraced by a pair of springs 105, the lower one being threaded over and under projections 107, 109 on the casting and fingers, respectively, to urge wings 97 on the finger-tops against the flange 55.
