Abstract

843,564. Cam-operated electric switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO. Ltd. Jan. 20, 1959 [Feb. 7, 1958], No. 4143/58. Class 38 (5). A cam-operated switch has the movable contact 3 arranged to wipe over the fixed contact 1 when the contacts close which they do under the influence of cam follower 7. The wiping action is derived from compression of spring 8. The switch is opened by follower 9 the arm 10 of which is secured to the arm 6 by a resilient connection 12. In a modification (not shown), the two cam followers are on a common arm which is biased to an open position by two opposed compression springs so arranged as to have a linear characteristic.
