Abstract
604,067. Thermal switches. COLE, Ltd., E. K., and MOORE, F. J. Nov. 23, 1945, No. 31565. [Class 38 (v)] A snap-action, thermal-delay, switch with ambient temperature compensation, for protecting transmitter valves and starting discharge tubes, comprises a dished bimetal disc 5 carrying a contact 3, which snaps down from the co-operating contact 2 when the heater coil 4 is energized. The contact 2 is carried on a bimetal spring 1, arranged so that it tends to move away from the disc 5, with increase in ambient temperature, to vary the pressure it exerts on the disc and so maintain a constant delay period. The contact on the disc may alternatively engage a contact 8 in the base when operated, Fig. 1 (not shown). In addition a bimetal strip 11 may be arranged above the heater so that it releases a blade-spring 10, which lifts the arm 1, and holds the contacts open, until reset by button 13, if the lamp fails to start.
