Abstract

422,392. Thermal switches. PERALTA, R. J., 73, Vennstiano Carranza, Despacho 10, Mexico City. May 22, 1934, No. 15283. Convention date, May 23,1933. [Class 38 (v)] A thermally operated switch for breaking a circuit on overload and remaking it when the overload ceases comprises a screw plug body 10 containing an expansible fluid such as nitrogen or ozone, a heating coil 22 for such fluid and a diaphragm 15 adapted to move into the dotted-line position when the fluid has been sufficiently heated by an overload. The diaphragm has fixed to it a rod 16 carrying a contact 17 adapted normally to engage the cover 11 to complete the circuit, and automatically returns to this position when the fluid cools. In modifications, a spring assists this return movement of the diaphragm and the contact 17 is fitted with an insulating cap forming a knob whereby the switch may be manually operated on and off.
