Abstract

603,535. Snap-action switches; thermal switches. LANDIS & GYR SOC. ANON. Oct. 23, 1945, No. 27965. Convention date, Oct. 24, 1944. [Class 38 (v)] A snap-action thermal switch has an operating cradle 5 with insulated push-rods 25, 27 engaging leaf-springs 21, 22 which transmit the operating force by means of bulges 23, 24 to the moving member 9, which may be a bowed blade spring such as that described in Specification 551,851 which snaps over to engage the fixed contact 13, or stop 14. The cradle is connected to the thermal element by a sleeve 4 and screwed rod 2 having threads 3, 20, which may be of different pitches, or righthand and left-hand to adjust the setting. A compression spring 18 eliminates the effect on the operation, of slackness in the threads, by keeping the rod 2 in tension, and provides the return force. The upper push-rod 27 is adjustable by a screw 26 to vary the overlap. One of the leaf-springs 21, 22 may be replaced by a bimetal strip to vary the setting with ambient temperature.
