Abstract

704,204. Thermal switches. SIMPSON, R. Dec. 5, 1951 [Dec. 7, 1950; Oct. 26, 1951], No. 28541/51. Class 38(5) A safety device for an electrically heated utensil comprises a slidable rod 10 carrying a movable member normally maintained in engagement with a stationary member against the bias of spring 15 to complete a circuit for the heating element 2 of the utensil, by a replaceable fusible pin 14 carried by the rod and directly engaging the element. The pin 14 is carried by a stirrup 13 and in Fig. 1 the movable and stationary members are the plug and socket coupling members 4, 5 of the utensil, the members being disengaged from one another by the spring 15 on the fusing of the pin 14. In Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) the movable member is a bridging contact member which co-operates with stationary contacts.
