Abstract

1,128,955. Thermal switches. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 13 Jan., 1966, No. 1610/66. Heading H1N. An electrical appliance, e.g. a storage heater, includes a heating circuit containing a thermostatic switch and a safety means which opens the circuit at temperatures too high for the thermostatic switch to operate. The safety means comprises a microswitch 10 to which is connected a first member 13 comprising a sheet metal plate 13a and a rod 13b welded thereto and a second member comprising a rod 15 has a hook engaging the operating arm 11. A fusible pin 17 connects the rods 13b, 15 so that the switch is held closed against the action of a spring 14. When pin 17 melts, the spring 14 moves the hook to release the lever 11 to open switch 10 under the action of its own spring.
