758,975. Thermal switches. HAWES ELECTRIC, Ltd. May 24, 1955 [May 25, 1954], No. 15333/54. Class 38(5) An electric switch used as a safety device in domestic appliances, e.g. electric kettles comprises a spring-loaded metal pin 7 carrying an insulating member 9 which holds contact plugs 10 which engage terminal sockets 3, the lower end of the pin engaging a bimetal clip 5, and the switch being enclosed by a cover 11. On overheating the bimetal clip opens out, releasing the pin and thereby opening the contacts. The switch is reset by depressing a button 12 on the end of the pin.
