Abstract

Closure members, rotary spherical.-The air inlet of a carburettor is controlled by a pair of curved blades a, b, Fig. 1, mounted on bearings in the wall of a spherical chamber x formed in the air inlet passage, and adjustably connected by radius rods d, c to tangent rods e, f attached to a control rod g operated manually or by the engine governor. In a modification, the blades a. b, Fig. 4, are each connected through an arm c and a rod f to a cross-bar i carried by a piston h, which is loaded by a spring h<1> and actuated by suction transmitted from the mixing-chamber y<1> through a passage y<2>. By adjusting a rod l<1> which limits the upward movement of the piston h, the tension of the spring h<1> may be varied.
