Regulating by accumulator connected to pumpbarrel.-The volume of a reservoir or accumulator between the fuel pump and the injection valve is varied, for example, by manually adjusting the position of a plunger 5, Fig. 6, acting against a spring 8 through a link 7 in which case the rate of increase of volume is greater than that of the fuel pressure. According to a modified construction, an additional reservoir 11, Fig. 7, is opened to the fuel pipe line when a predetermined pressure is attained.
