Abstract

461,839. Regulating. SCHNURLE, A. Jan. 20, 1936. No. 1825. Convention date, Jan. 19, 1935. [Class 7 (vi)] In two - stroke internal-combustion engines particularly for use on road vehicles, of the type comprising a fuel injection pump b, a rotary blower d for the scavenging-air, a pneumatic governor g for regulating the fuel supply in accordance with a pressure difference in the blower piping, a throttling-device k in the blower piping for varying the pressure difference, the throttling-device is adapted automatically to open against spring action when the greatest pressure difference necessary for governing is exceeded, and thereby reduces the pressure difference against which the blower would otherwise have to act and avoids overheating thereof. Alternatively, a separate valve, opening automatically, may be provided to reduce the pressure difference. In Fig. 2, the throttle k, which is in the suction pipe e, is actuated from a pedal m, and is provided with a central aperture p, is pivoted eccentrically so as automatically to open against the pressure of a spring o ; alternatively, by choice of a suitable return spring r for the pedal, the spring o may be dispensed with. In a modification, the throttle is centrally pivoted and is supplemented by a lift valve acting to relieve the vacuum in the pipe e. In Fig. 5, the throttle valve k is in the outlet pipe f of the blower d, the governor g being controlled by the difference in pressure between two points in the pipe, and a lift valve s relieves the vacuum.
