253,508. Noesske, G. June 9, 1925, [Convention date]. Swimming appliances.-A swimming-shoe comprises a U-shaped body portion 3 which accommodates the foot of a wearer, pivoted at 2 to legbars 1. Flaps 7 are hinged to the sides at 6 and are normally maintained in the open position by springs 8. Chains or cords 9 are provided to limit the upward movement of the flaps 7. The pivot 2 coincides with the ankle of the wearer and the flaps 7 close around the body 3 when the foot is drawn forwards through the water. The parts of the shoe in the vicinity of the ankle-joint 2 are reinforced by ribs or by suitably thickening them.
