Abstract

Boxes made from special blanks; fittings, internal; contents, viewing and testing.-A carton or box for an electric incandescent lamp or other similar fragile article comprises a tubular body 12 having at one end a centrally perforated platform 16 for holding the base 11 of the article and at the other end supporting flaps 13 which are bent inwards to engage and resiliently support the bulb of the article 10 which can thus be inserted into the carton base first with the ends exposed to permit inspection or testing or both. The flaps 13 are engaged by locking flips 15 also bent inwardly to engage the article and prevent outward movement of the supporting flaps. The platform is hinged to the body blank by a tab 18 which, with side tabs 19, 20 engage the sides of the body when the platform is in position. The locking flap 21 is hinged to the body 12 by a tab 22 at a side adjacent the side to which the platform is hinged, the side of the platform adjacent the flap 21 being devoid of a tab so as to avoid waste in cutting the blank. The flap 21 may be shaped to engage the base 11 of the article.
