Abstract

206,640. Bomber, W. Sept. 19, 1922. Knock-down boxes; fittings, internal.-A hnockdown or collapsable box for holding fragile articles such as electric lamp bulbs, is formed from a blank, Fig. 1, which is rolled around the article, the blank consisting of a number of panels a - - d, some or all of which have foldable edges f, m, n, o, and g, p, q, r, and one panel having a flap h, i at each end beyond the edge f, g, the flaps, when the box is made up, Fig. 3, forming indented ends thereto with the tongues k, l on the flaps engaged beneath the inwardly-turned edges n, q; the edges joined to the panel opposite to that having the flaps are continuous at least with the edges on one side of them. The box is closed by the tongue e which is tucked into the space between the panel a and the inwardly-turned edges f, g. The flaps are apertured to engage with the ends of the article, and may have tongues on all sides for engagement beneath the inwardly-turned edges of the other panels. According to the Provisional Specification, the flaps may be slotted for the insertion of a sliding support carrying an incandescent gas mantle or one or both flaps may have projections which could be turned inwards to form a double flap, the inner part of which would be slotted.
