Abstract

241,097. Creasey, B. J. March 16, 1925. Fittings, internal; boxes made from special blanks. - Collapsable and other cardboard boxes &c. for thermionic valves, electric lamps, bottles &c. are provided with internal supporting units each of which consists of a pair of surface elements a, a<1>, Figs. 1, 2 and 4, connected only at the edges a<2>, a<3>, the article being inserted between the two elements so that the middle parts can open and support the article resiliently. The two elements may be connected at the point a<6> of the bottom edge and scorings a<5> may be formed so that the bottom edges may bend outwardly at these points. Tabs a' may be secured to or formed on the elements so that when bent over they secure, or in some cases seal, the article in place. The article may also be secured by an inner lid b<1>. The supporting unit may be stapled or glued to a box-forming blank, or, as shown in Fig. 4, may be formed integral with a blank of well-known type, the closure flaps being in some cases omitted. Blanks as shown in Fig. 2 may be inserted in open-ended boxes which are disposed in the cubicles of a partitioned box, or the blanks may be inserted directly in the cubicles.
