289,243. Barnes, G., and Hasler, Watson, <&. Co., Ltd. March 31, 1927. Boxes formed from special blanks; fittings, internal; contents, testing. - A box or carton for an electric lamp, valve &c. is formed from a blank folded to give a tubular body 5, end-closing flaps 8, 8<a> and internal flaps 10 apertured at 13, 14 to receive and support the ends of the lamp which is passed through the central hole 18 in a detachable or removable web 16 having flaps or flanges 17 engaging the sides of the box to retain the web in position and the edges of the hole 18 being formed with flexible tongues 18<a> to allow for variations in the diameter of the lamp and, when bent, to provide a substantial bearing surface therefor. The lamp may be tested while in the carton by opening the top flap 8 and inserting the lamp contacts in a holder when the lighted lamp may be viewed through a hole or tarnsparent part 15 in the flap 8<a>. Additional webs may be disposed along the length of the lamp, if necessary.
