195,543. Hunt, R. May 4, 1922. Folding boxes.-A folding cardboard box of the kind which can be extended ready for use by h a n d or by pulling strings, has the bottom so formed, either by removing a piece or by having slits, that the central portion folds outwardly while the end portions fold inwardly with the ends of the box. The box may be formed from a single blank, either with a slit bottom h as in Fig. 7, or with a bottom having an elliptical hole therein, or it may be made from two blanks, one comprising the cover, sides and an uncut bottom, and the other the two ends and a cut bottom. The central portion of the cut bottom c' of such a box, shown in plan in Fig. 3, may be attached to the uncut bottom c.
