Abstract

250,592. Mirlesse, L. April 7, 1925, [Convention date]. Spray carburettors having a slow speed nozzle and a main nozzle are provided with a single float chamber containing hydrocarbons of different densities, the upper part of the float chamber which contains the light hydrocarbon being connected to the slow speed nozzle by a pipe which may be provided with a cock, the lower part of the chamber containing the heavy hydrocarbon being connected only to the main nozzle. The float chamber 1, Fig. 3, is fed from two tanks containing the light and heavy fuels and a pipe 10 with cock 11 delivers the light fuel, in the upper part of the chamber, to the slow-running conduit 6. The main nozzle is fed with heavy fuel from the lower part of the float chamber through a passage 4. In a modification, the pipe 10 is of a different shape and the cock may be actuated from the accelerator pedal in the case of a motor vehicle, or by a governor in the case of motor compressors or electricity generating groups. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also a carburettor, Fig. 1 (Cancelled), comprising a float chamber 1 supplying a main sprayer 5 and a slow-running sprayer 6 through a passage 4. A light fuel tank 8 is connected with the slow-running fuel conduit by a pipe 7 provided with a cock 9 which may be actuated in the same manner as the cock 11 referred to above. By keeping the cock constantly open, a mixture of the fuels may be supplied. It describes also a modification in which a pipe delivers the light fuel to the upper part of a vaporizer for the heavy fuel and thence directly into the intake conduit of the engine. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
