Abstract

250,103. Hold, C. Sept. 18, 1925, Addition to 233,214. Pulverulent-fuel furnaces; casings and walls. -In applying a furnace of the kind described in the parent Specification to boilers having two or more flues, a breastpiece c, Figs. 2 and 3, of refractory material is arranged at the front of the boiler and between the flues b to direct the passage of the flames. The breast-piece is provided with a passage d through which circulates air from the jacket i surrounding the combustion chamber a for cooling purposes. A jacket f is provided to assist the circulation of air through the passages g, d and over the sole e of the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber is supported by sheetmetal vanes k arranged vertically and with their outer edges anchored in the walls h, while their inner edges conform to the curvature of the combustion chamber wall. The wall of the combustion chamber terminates at the bottom in a metal rim n bevelled at o and adapted to be cooled by air or water to effect the cooling and prevent the adhesion of clinker. The clinker is further cooled by a. rotary perforated drum u through which air is circulated and from which it issues through perforations y and passes upwardly into the furnace.
