249,347. Hetherington &, Sons, Ltd., J., and Horridge, J. April 29, 1925. Combing-machines. - In an arrangement for weighting the detaching-rollers of cotton and other combing-machines, in which the rollers can be relieved from the weights, an arm 2 hooks over the back roller 1 and is attached at its other end to an arm 3 on a rock shaft 4. The arm 2 is provided with an inclined slot 5 which may have a depression 5a at its upper end. A hand lever 11 carries a pin 12 which engages the slot and is pivoted at its lower end to the weightlever 6 at a point between the fulcrum 7 and the point of attachment of the weight 9. The lever 6 carries a stop 10 adapted to rest on the framework when the weight is taken off the rollers. If the handle is moved to the right, the lever 6 is lifted and the pin 12 comes to rest in the depression 5a. If the handle is moved to the left the lever 6 is lowered until the stop 10 rests on the framework. The middle roller 1<a> is weighted by a lever 13 pivoted to the arm 2 and carrying a weight 14. The front roller 1<b> is weighted by an arm 15 pivoted at 16 and controlled by a spring 17. The hand lever 11 may be pivoted to the arm 2 and be slotted at its lower end, a pin on the weight lever engaging the slot. The device may be operated by a treadle.
