Joint-making packing. -In means for detecting leakage through a joint in a wall separating two fluids under pressure as applied to the joint between the barrel 1 and head 9 of a cylinder of an internal-combustion engine, a cavity 11 is formed to receive gas leaking through a tongue and groove joint 6, 7 or cooling water leaking through a joint formed by a rubber ring 10. A passage 13 allows the leaking fluid to escape to the atmosphere.
