Abstract

142,696. Eekelbarger, Z. June 17, 1919. Piston packing.-A split packing-ring 7, which is especially applicable to the piston of an internal-combustion engine, is formed with an internal groove engaging a flange 6 on the piston head, which is of reduced diameter. The packing-ring extends beyond the piston head and is formed with a bevelled surface 14. The packing is expanded by the fluid pressure and is also pressed on to a seating 16 on the upper surface of the flange 6.
