Abstract

216,214. Birch, G. Feb. 23, 1923. Piston packing. - Packing, of the type in which the entry of pressure fluid to the space f beneath a packing - ring b is prevented by a flanged sealing ring e, is adapted for the pistons of internal-combustion engines by forming the ring e in segments. The ring e is arranged at the pressure side of the ring b and its flange h enters an undercut recess in the packing-ring groove. In the case of a doubleacting piston, a ring e is arranged at each sid'e of the ring b.
