Abstract
The thermal collector 1, is constructed from a band of material suitable for its operating environment and positioned around the exterior wall of the pot, kettle or pan 2, forming a cavity between them 3, which acts as an exhaust guide to concentrate the heated gases 4, escaping from beneath the pot, kettle or pan, resulting in an increase of the wall surface temperature of the pot, kettle or pan. The thermal collector can be constructed as a freestanding device, integrated part of the pot, kettle, pan or integrated part of a heating source. The freestanding thermal collector has an optional cut-away section 5, to allow access for pot and pan handles or kettle spouts. This option is not necessary for thermal collectors that are manufactured from relatively narrow bands of material.
Description
Thermal Collector.
This invention relates to a thermal collector, designed to be used in conjunction with cooking pots, kettles and pans, which are not heated internally by electricity.
When a cooking pot, kettle or flying pan is heated using a heating source (example gas cooker ring) some of the applied heat escapes from under the base of the pot, kettle or pan and radiates into the surrounding atmosphere.
To minimise the heat losses, the present invention proposes the use of a thermal collector.
The thermal collector is constructed from a band of material suitable for its operating environment and positioned around the exterior wail of the pot, kettle or pan, forming a cavity between them, which acts as an exhaust guide to concentrate the heated gases escaping from beneath the pot, kettle or pan, resulting in an increase of the wall surface temperature of the pot, kettle or pan.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: -Figure 1 shows how heat escapes from beneath a cooking pot into the surrounding atmosphere (the same principle applies for kettles and pans), -Figure 2 shows a freestanding thermal collector, -Figure 3 shows a freestanding thermal collector surrounding a cooking pot (the same principle applies for kettles and pans), -Figure 4 shows a thermal collector, which is an. integrated part of the cooking pot (the same principle applies for kettles and.pans) and -Figure 5 shows a thermal collector, which is an integrated part of a heating source.
The thermal collector can be constructed as a freestanding device, integrated part of the pot, kettle, pan or integrated part. of a heating source. The freestanding thermal collector has an optional cut-away section 5, to allow access for pot and pan handles or kettle spouts. This option is not necessary for thermal collectors that are manufactured from relatively narrow bands of material. The thermal collector can be an integrated part of the pot when suitably attached 6 and allow the handle of the pot to be fitted to the external wall of the thermal collector 7, removing the need for the cut-away section 5. The thermal collector can become an integrated part of the heating sourceS, when suitably attached to a hob 9.
Claims (8)
- CLAIMS1. The thermal collector is constructed from a band of mateiial suitable for its operating environment and designed to be used in conjunction with cooking pots, kettles and pans, which are not heated internally by electricity.
- 2. A thermal collector according to claim 1, enables water contained within a pot or kettle to be boiled quicker and enables lard or oil contained within a frying pan to reach its required cooking temperature quicker.
- 3. A thermal collector according to claim 2, reduces beating source requirements.
- 4. A thermal collector according to claim 3, improves the thermal efficiency of the cooking pot, kettle or pan.
- 5. A thermal collector according to claim 4, can be manufactured as a freestanding device.
- 6. A thermal collector according to claim 5, has the option to be manufactured with a cut-away section to allow access for pot and pan handles or kettle spouts, however, this option is not necessary for thennal collectors that are manufactured from relatively narrow bands of material.
- 7. A thermal collector according to claim 6, can be manufactured as an integrated part of the pot, kettle or pan.
- 8. A thermal collector according to claim 7, can be manufactured as an integrated part of a heating source.
