Jackets.-An adjustable jacket, sheath or casing A adapted to be wrapped around a kettle or other cooking utensil comprises a composite strip or series of strips of flexible metal and heat insulating material. The ends may be attached together by means of a hook-and-slot, a chain or any suitable fastening means, and the device, may be in the form of a single strip, or may comprise sections hinged together. Means to separate the sheath from the sides of the vessel may consist of attached spacing strips p or may be provided by bending the sheath itself as shown at p<1>, Fig. 5, which shows the composite character of the sheath. The spacing strips need not be arranged vertically, but mav be inclined and curved as shown in Fig. 8. Pins t<1> Fig. 7, adapted to be turned to engage over the top of the vessel may be provided. The sheath may be of cylindrical, conical or other form, and the top edge may be turned inwardly towards the vessel.
