Disc-engine and inclined-shaft type; regulating; reversing.-In a rotary engine or pump in which the rotary and oscillatory piston is formed by an intermediate disc 6 forming a hollow sphere having inlet and outlet slots and pivoted to two rotating spherical sectors on relatively-inclined shafts, as described in Specification 18376/14, the walls of the spherical sheets 7, 7<1> forming the member 6 are thickened so that the sectors 4, 5 are of wedge-shape the breadths of each of which does not exceed or only slightly exceeds the width of the slots 9, 10. The wedge sectors are shouldered at 11, 12 to fit the slots. Pipes 13, 14 are provided for the inlet and discharge passageways. Regulation and reversal may be effected by displacing the shafts 2, 3 relatively to one another.
