Nov. 26, 1934, No. 33997. [Class 110 (ii)] A rotary engine or pump with an inclineddisc piston 8 coupled to a rotary inner casing 2 and having a number of partition plates 19 passing through slots in the disc to form with the inner casing several working spaces has the contact surfaces of the inner rotary casing and the outer fixed casing, where they are exposed to the pressure of the fluid in the inlet and outlet passages 13, 13<1>, 14, 14<1>, so constructed that the pressures are centrally and oppositely directed. Jamming due to tilting couples is thus avoided. As shown, the rotary inner casing 2 has a spherical exterior, but a conical form adjacent the ports 13, 13<1>, 14, 141 could be used. The interior faces of the rotary casing are grooved out to permit the rocking movement of the partition plates 19. The capacity can be varied by a screw-block 11 which alters the inclination of the disc piston 8.
