245,941. Hampton, J., and Mark, J. Jan. 20, 1925. Chucks; sockets.-A chuck for holding screwed articles such as studs has a power-driven stem A with a ball-end B. Jaws C, C<1> are pivoted on studs G projecting from the ball end B and are closed by the tapered end M of a sleeve axially moved on the stem A by a hand-actuated fork not shown. Movement of the jaws is adjusted by grub-screws P. Laterally screwed pads H secured by screws J engage the work piece. A stop V is locked in the forward position, against the urge of a spring b when the jaws are closed, by a cam g carried by the stem A, and is released on the rearward movement of the sleeve.
