Abstract

Sliding-jaw wrenches; internal-grip wrenches; jaw faces.-A wrench is provided with a fixed jaw 12 and a worm-adjusted sliding jaw 23, both jaws having faces such as 18 for engaging over a nut and faces such as 20 for engaging the angular hole in a socket. An alternative form of sliding jaw is shown in Fig. 3 with stepped serrations 25 for engaging a pipe. When the jaws are in adjusted position, they may be locked by the head 30, Fig. 8, of a screw 28 frictionally engaging the worm. Wrench handles and shanks.-The shank end has a tapered shoulder 32 fitting into the handle 33 and retained in position by a spring 35 fixed on the handle engaging the shoulder of the shank. When the handle is removed the shank may be engaged in the chuck jaws of an ordinary bitbrace for rapid movement.
