Abstract

184,089. Wasseth, M. Sept. 27, 1921. Rigid-jaw and sliding-jaw wrenches; wrench handles and shanks; wrench-jaw faces and attachments; screwdrivers. - A combination tool consists of a hollow handle having a spanner head 13 and hammer head 18 at one end and a fixed jaw 19 at the other end with which co-operates a sliding jaw 20 having a screwed shank 21 extending into the hollow handle, so as to be adjusted by means of a nut 23, the inner end of the shank being formed as a screwdriver 29. The sliding jaw 20 is formed as a claw nail extractor 24 and has a serrated V recess 25 for use as a pipe wrench. The hollow handle consists of a frame 10, with a plate 11 riveted to the side of the frame. It is constructed so as to accommodate several sizes of nuts as at 14, 16, 17, 28. A serrated projection 26 on the fixed jaw 19 forms with the V-shaped recess 25 a pipe wrench. A square hole 30 in the hollow handle enables the tool to be used as a tap wrench, being adjustable by means of the end of the screwdriver 29 and a screw 31. The sliding jaw 20 is recessed at 27 to form another wrench of a size different from those on the handle.
