Abstract

245,803. Siemens & Halske Akt.-Ges. Jan. 12, 1925, [Convention date]. Low-pressure metallic-vapour apparatus.-Certainty of ignition of " switch tubes " 1 is ensured by a condenser 5 charged through a high resistance 6 and discharged repeatedly through an electron-discharge tube 8 on closure of the switch 7, at intervals depending upon the dimensions of the resistance and the capacity, the transformer 4 generating the required tension for application to the ignition device 3. In a modification, an oscillation generator, for example, a three-electrode thermionic tube 10, 11, adjusted to produce isolated impulses, applies ignition tension repeatedly when its circuit is completed.
