Abstract

523,476. Valve generating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Jan. 2, 1939, No. 67. Convention date, Dec. 31, 1937. [Class 40 (v)] A uni-directional conducting device across part of the output transformer of a saw-tooth current generator causes the abrupt stroke. The condenser 7 is normally charged slowly through resistance 9 and a gradually increasing current flows in the valve anode circuit and is passed through transformer 12 to scanning coils 16. As the current flow rises the voltage on the anode of diode 19 which is connected across part or all the secondary 14 of transformer 12 is maintained negative. When the voltage across the condenser equals that impressed on the diode by the transformer, the condenser starts to discharge through the diode The plate current begins to decrease reversing the voltage on the plate of the diode so that the condenser discharge is accelerated and a rapid fly-back is obtained. When the condenser is discharged the cycle is repeated. Synchronizing impulses may be applied to the screen 4 of the valve 1. An embodiment using a triode for the valve 1 in which the synchronizing pulses are applied to the transformer winding 14 is also described.
