Abstract
457,929. Valve generating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and BANKS, G. B., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, London. June 8, 1935, No. 16724. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] The deflecting coils 2, Fig. 1, of a cathode ray tube are short-circuited during the 'flyback ' periods to eliminate effects due to the self-inductance of the coils and so allow an oscillatory voltage of saw-tooth wave form to be applied to them. A neon tube 1 is connected in shunt with the coils so as to discharge during the fly-back periods. The neon tube may be replaced by a grid-controlled tube 10, Fig. 2, so that the breakdown voltage of the tube may be adjusted by varying the grid bias. Alternatively, the synchronizing impulses may be applied to the grid to cause the tube to discharge.
