Abstract
558,927. Television; valve generating circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., CHATTERJEA, P. K., and AMBROSE, D. M. July 24, 1942, No. 10371. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] A scanning arrangement for a television cathode-ray tube comprises a generator of sawtooth waves, an inductive circuit L for applying the waves to the electron beam of the tube, and a hard valve V2 normally biased to cut-off and having its anode circuit connected to shunt the inductive circuit, means being provided for unblocking the hard valve only during the periods of the fly-back strokes of the saw-tooth waves. As shown in Fig. 1, the circuit comprising the inductance L and the hard valve V2 is supplied from a generator of saw-tooth waves G through an amplifying valve VI. The saw-tooth waves are also fed through an amplifier V3 and a transformer T to the grid circuit of the hard valve V2, so that this valve is rendered conductive only during the fly-back periods of the saw-tooth waves. During this conductivity serves to damp undesired oscillations in the inductive circuit. Reference is made to Specification 457,929 for similar circuits but using neon or other gas-filled valves in place of the hard valve V2.
