Abstract

424,429. Generating circuits using gas-discharge tubes. RADIOAKT.-GES., D. S. LOEWE, 10, Wiesenweg, Steglitz, and SCHLESINGER, K., 39, Friedrichstrasse, Friedrichshagen, both in Berlin. Aug. 21, 1933, No. 23229. Convention date, Aug. 30, 1932. [Class 40 (v)] The condenser 9 of a relaxation oscillation. generator is charged from a D.C. source 1 associated with a glow-discharge device 3. The source 1 feeds the device 3 through a series resistance 2 preferably of the known ferric-hydrogen type, and the device 3 supplies a constant voltage which charges the condenser 9 through a variable resistance 7 and inductance 8. The condenser is periodically discharged through a glow lamp 10, the grid electrode of which is negatively biassed by connection through a resistance 22 to the cathode of the device 3, whilst the cathode of the lamp 10 is connected to an intermediate electrode of the device 3. The voltage on the condenser 9 is applied through a condenser 14 and potentiometer 13 to the grid of a pentode or other amplifier 23, the plate and screen voltage of which are supplied from the device 3. The amplifier grid is biassed from a potentiometer 15 connected across two electrodes of the device 3. The amplifier 23 operates the deflecting-electrodes of one or more cathoderay television apparatus, the potentiometer 13 regulating the size of the picture, and potentiometer 15 its position on the screen. The inductance 8 in the charging circuit, or an impedance network substituted therefor, gives a straight-line charging curve over a long range. The same glow-discharge device may feed two relaxation circuits, one generating the picture frequency, the other the line frequency. The latter may be adjusted by varying the resistance 7. Synchronizing impulses are applied to the grid of the lamp 10 through a condenser 20 and resistance 21.
