Abstract
245,187. Rupp, A. Sept. 25, 1924. Compression-spoke wheels; hubs. - Means for securing propellers or wheels to the axles comprise a tubular hub with stepped inner bore which is keyed to the shaft and also locked endwise by a nut on the shaft engaging the step. The hub has an integral flange having radiating ribs adapted to sink into the wooden boss of the propeller or wheel and the flange carries conical driving nuts whilst the boss is finally secured by an end disc and nut on the hub. A tubular hub e is secured to the shaft a by a key and also by the nut b and a disc bearing on an internal shoulder. The nut b is locked by a set-screw r. An integral flange o on the hub e has radial ribs n which bite into the wooden boss of the wheel p and it also carries conical studs m which register with conical holes in the boss. The boss is secured by an end-plate i, cap k, and nut h. The latter is screwed on to the hub e and is locked by a cotter t passing through it and castellations on the hub. When the assembly is complete, the plate i acts as a lock for the screw r. The plate i is keyed to the hub.
