Abstract

866. Horner, E. C. Jan. 12. Tyre attachments to rims.-The fixed rim 1, Fig. 2, formed with a tyre-flange 2 and secured to a disk 3, is provided on its interior surface with radial pins 4. The detachable flange 8 is secured to a disk 7 which carries a ring 6 of channel-section axially slotted at 9 to engage the pins 4. Within the ring 6 is a circumferentially-movable locking-ring 25, Figs. 3 and 4, formed with notches 29. The disk 7 is seated loosely on a sleeve 10, which screws on the hub to shift the detachable flange axially. After the pins have passed through the notches, the ring 25 is moved by a lever which rocks in a seating 15 and bears in a notch 14 in the ring. The ring is fixed by a pawl 19, which engages a notch therein and is pivoted at the side of an aperture 16 in the disk 7 closed by a plate 17. The sides of the ring leading to the notches are tapered at 30 so as to cause a tightening of the parts. A rod 32 and a sleeve 33 facilitate the adjustment. A spoked wheel may be substituted for the disks.
