Abstract

297,767. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., (Assignees of Brunner, E. F.). Sept. 27, 1927, [Convention date]. Detachable-rim attachments to wheels.-In a twin-rim device, the detachable rims are formed with radial flanges for bolting to corresponding portions of the fixed rim, and with coned portions to engage a coned seating on the fixed rim or on a separate clamping-ring. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the inner rim 35 is seated on an off-set flange 14 of the wheel-rim 12 and has a radial flange 38 clamped to the flange 13 of the rim 12 by bolts 40. The outer rim 29 has a corresponding engagement with a split carrier-ring 20 which is clamped to a coned seating 18 and flange 17 of the rim 12 by bolts 26. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the detachable rims are fitted with lugs 48, 50 to engage flanges 43, 13 respectively on the wheel-rim. The outer rim 29 is secured by a wedge-section ring 45 jammed between coned seats 30, 47 by bolts 49. In a further modification, the outer rim and the outer edge of the wheel-rim are formed with interrupted flanges adapted to interengage in the manner of a bayonet-joint.
