Disc wheels; tyre attachments to rims. - In disc wheels of the kind in which the rim is integral with the disc, the junction between the rim and disc is shaped to the form of a wide curve or strengthening bead, and a circumferential depression is formed on the disc side of the rim to provide a retaining seat for a split detachable flange or locking ring. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, a curved annular bead is formed by bending the disc forwardly at 35 and rearwardly at 36 where it merges into the rim 12 and forms a seating for the split flange 39 or a locking ring. The inner edge of the seating is provided with a groove 38 engaging a bead on the flange to retain it laterally. In an alternative form, the groove is replaced by holes and the bead by tongues. Fig. 2 shows another construction in which the seating for the detachable flange is in the form of a channel 26. The detachable flange or locking ring may have a depending portion 52, Fig. 6, bearing against the face of the disc.
