Abstract

230,271. Read, A., and Turner, W. E. March 13, 1924. Detaching from, and attaching to, permanent hubs.-Relates to devices for securing detachable flanges or the like, and consists of means for preventing the complete removal of the securing nuts from the flanges &c. A tubular extension is formed on the nut, which is split longitudinally, and provided with a shallow lip on the end remote from the nut. A detachable wheel a is clamped on a permanent hub b between a fixed hub flange c and a detachable flange d by studs e carried on the flange c and passing through bushed holes f in the nave. The nuts g, formed with split tubular extensions h and lips i, are engaged with the flange d by forcing the extension h through the flange stud holes j. Washers l are threaded on the nuts before engaging them with the flange.
