Abstract
223,732. Buswell, F. Oct. 17, 1923. Removing wheels from shafts.-A device for removing from their axles wheel hubs of the kind provided with bolts or studs by which the wheel is attached, comprises in combination a cap 2 carrying a screw 3 for exerting pressure on the end of the axle, and one or more plates, flanges or discs 1 adapted to be attached to the cap and provided with holes or slots 7 to engage the bolts or studs on the hub, the holes or slots in the various plates being arranged to suit hubs having different numbers of bolts or studs. If a single plate only is employed, the holes or slots are so disposed as to enable the plate to be used on hubs having different arrangements of the bolts or studs. The cap 2 is adapted to engage the plate preferably by being formed with a flange, 6 to engage the back of the plate 1 or a recess 5 therein. Strengthening ribs 10 may be formed on the plates 1 and one or more inspection plates 8 may be provided in the cap. Specification 216,352 is referred to. The Provisional Specification states that in the case of a single, plate, the plate may be integral with or permanently attached to the cap.
