Abstract

243,469. Cole, E. Z. Sept. 9, 1924. Locking nuts.-A nut 1 provided with ratchet teeth on a hub 2 is locked to a bolt 4 by a split spring washer 11 with an internal lug engaging a spline groove 5 in the bolt. The washer is kept in position by a cap 8 having tongues 9 which engage diametrically opposed ratchet grooves in the hub 2 of the nut. In a modification the cap 8 has diametrically opposed slots and is secured to the hub of the nut by a U-shaped yoke, the resilient arms of which occupy the said slots replacing the tongues 9. Further modifications of the securing-means for the cap 8 include projections on the hub 2 which engage in bayonet grooves in the cap, and projections on the hub of the nut.
