Abstract

Lubricants for machinery, e.g. engine bearings consist of mixtures of lubricating oil with a preparation of fat, mercury, sulphur, and castor oil. In an example 16 lb. of lard, 1 lb. of sheep tallow, 40 lb. of sulphur, 16 lb. of mercury, and 24 lb. of castor oil are compounded to a cream; 4 oz. of the mixture is added to 1 gallon of pure castor oil or other lubricating oil.
