Abstract

Finely divided aluminium, such as is made by pounding the metal in stearic acid, is used as a constituent of lubricants. It may for example be mixed with water, animal, vegetable or mineral oils, greases, emulsions, or saponaceous solutions. There may be added a deflocculating-agent and/or mica, graphite, or other suitable solid. In examples, 5 lb. of aluminium are mixed with 95 lb. of petroleum jelly or 47.5 lb. of petroleum jelly and 47.5 lb. of lubricating-oil, or with 95 lb. of solidified oil. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 140,174.
