Abstract

Lubricants which prevent and remove corrosion on metallic surfaces consist of a lubricating-oil and a compound of cobalt. 1,0 per cent of chromate or oleate is suitable. The oil may be mineral, animal, or vegetable, and the chromate is preferably colloidal and free from chlorides or other deleterious impurities. According to the Provisional Specification a chromate prepared as described in Specification 406,445, 422,860; or 428,375, [Group XXXVI], is preferred. p
