Abstract

456,539. Belt-fastenings. REDFERN, H., 31, Charles Street, Manchester. May 31, 1935, No. 15843. [Class 80 (i)] A belt-fastening, more especially for a fabric- and-rubber V-belt, comprises a pair of flexible liners such as springs b, each inserted in a longitudinal passage d in each end of the belt and having a close spirally-grooved interior surface to engage a flexible connecting member, such as a spring c, having a spirally-grooved exterior. Instead of the springs b, c, thin metal liners threaded internally or both internally and externally and adapted to engage a screwthreaded flexible rod may be employed. The internal passage d may extend the whole length of the belt. According to the Provisional Specification, the liner may extend the whole length of the belt, and the connector may have right-hand threads at one end and left-hand threads at the other.
