Abstract

Lubricating-compositions especially for use under high pressures consist of a lubricating oil base and a polyhalogen derivative of benzene or homologue of benzene added in an amount less than 20 per cent of the total composition. Compounds specified are, o-dichlorbenzene, 1 . 2 . 4 . trichlorbenzene, chlorinated toluene, xylene or cymene. Compounds containing more than 55 per cent of halogen are preferred. Specifications 425,324, [Group XXXVI], and 430,045 are referred to.
