Abstract

Regulating transformers.-In a resistance welding machine wherein the electrodes 5 are connected to the secondary circuit of a transformer, the welding current is varied by a movable core associated with the secondary circuit. In Fig. 2 the transformer comprises a primary 1 and secondary 4 embracing a core 3. A laminated core S is reciprocated between the legs of the secondary by a crank and lever mechanism 11 to vary the welding current. The travel of the core 8 and the path of the crank pin may be varied. In Fig. 3 a movable core 16 is associated with an adjustable member 17. In a further modification there are two opposed members 16 both of which are reciprocated. In Fig. 6 a core 22 is reciprocated within a coil 21 arranged in shunt to the secondary of the welding transformer 1. Specifications 217,670 and 224,282 are referred to.
